Cardialen is developing low-energy  implantable defibrillators to gently restore normal heart rhythm using its proprietary Unpinning Termination Therapy (UTP). The UTP delivers a sequence of low-energy electrical pulses designed to stop abnormal rapid heart rates. This low-energy therapy is being developed to mitigate the negative effects of current high-energy defibrillators. Early feasibility study data suggest low-energy therapy may treat atrial fibrillation with 91% less energy and 79% less energy to treat ventricular fibrillation than typically required with conventional treatments.
